     9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Join Tear Cap Workshops in partnership with The Stone Trust for a weekend of Stonewall Building in Hiram, Maine! This is the perfect workshop for anyone to start learning about how to build dry stone walls. Participants will learn all the basic rules of structural walling that can be applied to any type of stone and project. This workshop is suited to both beginners and those with previous experience; all that is required is enthusiasm for stone walls.

Led by Certified Instructors from the Stone Trust:
Michael Weitzner and Karl Gifford

Over the course of the two days each participant will build about 35 square feet of wall on one side of the double wall. The wall we’re building at Tear Cap Workshops is a free standing wall, like those traditionally used as livestock fences and property boundaries. The information learned is directly applicable to all types of dry stone walls, including retaining walls, seat walls, and more.
The workshop will run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a 30 minute lunch break, both days. We ask folks to bring their own lunch. There is a lunchroom facility on site with a sink, refrigerator, stove top and microwave. All students are welcome to use this shared space.
Class will be held rain or shine; tents will cover the workspace to protect from sun or rain, but we remind participants to dress appropriately for the weather. Class is limited to 12 participants.
All tools will be provided; in addition, all participants will receive printed hand-outs, a tee-shirt, a hat, and a certificate upon completion of the course.
Please contact Sarah Banks at info@tearcapworkshops.org or 207 625 3396 with any questions or concerns about the class.
