We are so happy to welcome Jude Hsiang of Versicolor back for this workshop in hand dyeing and basic weaving.  We will begin by preparing natural fibers by scouring and mordanting.  While the fibers simmer, Jude will show us how to constuct a simple loom and share some basic weaving techniques.  We will then dye the processed fiber with local plant materials and begin weaving on our looms.  Students will be able to take their loom and yarn home to continue working on their project.

Needle felting is a time-honored fiber art that has gained popularity for its adaptability to animal, plant and human forms.  In this class, you will learn how to create a loon by preparing the felt, using needles to form and compress, and how to add special touches.  Ruth Boisvert is a gallery-level felting artist whose work can be viewed at 302 Gallery. All supplies will be provided, and students will take home tools and have opportunity to purchase more at class.
